Dalhousie – A dream in the mountains

Dalhousie is a hill station in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India as you might have already gathered  by now.  Our site is a fairly new site and whatever that has to be there about Dalhousie is already all over the internet. What can we offer to you that is fairly new or unique? Probably not much hence we will try to share with you just some points that you might have missed elsewhere. Some nondescript facts

1/ You can reach Dalhousie from Delhi by quite a few routes , but do avoid the long one that goes via Bilaspur, Mandi . It is a long one , bad one and a tedious one. Unless you are seeking a high quotient of adventure, this route is not advisable.
2/ Between Dalhousie and Khajjiar which is also called the Switzerland of India, Khajjiar is a quieter and a better place to stay . They have a nice HPTDC hotel over there too in Khajjiar. Or you could split your stay between Dalhousie and Khajjiar and enjoy the experiences of both.
3/ Though it has been termed a sanctuary , do not expect to spot much of wildlife over there in Kalatop Sanctuary. The track leading from the highway to the Sanctuary office is a narrow but scenic drive. So go slow and enjoy.
4/While driving to Chamba from Khajjiar , the drive is a downhill one with some steep curves and bends but with amazing views. While returning back to your base in Dalhousie you need not take the same route and instead can opt for a shorter and an easier route too.
5/ Parking is a problem in both Subhash and Gandhi chowk market squares . So a walk up to the markets would be a better option.
6/ Plenty of activities have been started in Khajjiar. Children as well as grown ups can have some enjoyable moments in Khajjiar now.
Hope these few pointers and the slideshow below help you plan your vacation well in Dalhousie.
